Richmond elementary school teacher slapped with drunk in public charge

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)–A Richmond Public School teacher was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and drunkenness over the weekend.

Police said 23-year-old Diamond Mays, a third grade teacher at Broad Rock Elementary school, was arrested around 9 p.m. Saturday.

The arrest took place in the 1400 block of East Cary Street near Sine Irish pub. There were multiple St. Patrick’s holiday celebrations in the area.

A Richmond Public Schools spokesperson said the district is aware of the charges and will follow the case until there is a final disposition to appropriate actions.

They said they won’t comment further, because the situation is a personnel issue.
