RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — As winter weather begins to impact Richmond, Dominion Power reported over 9,000 customers were without power Sunday night.

As of 10:14 p.m., 9,233 customers were without power in the city.

Dominion Power told CBS 6 that two problems caused the outages.

The first incident involved a voltage reduction issue that affected about 3500 customers.

The second issue happened after a power pole caught on fire. That impacted up to 5,000 customers. Their power was supposed to be restored by 11 p.m.

The first incident impacted a show at the Altria Theater. I was in attendance and around 9:20, they made an announcement that Dominion had requested them to shut off their load as they worked on an issue. So, for about 15 minutes, we were sitting in the emergency lighting (which was quite substantial) before normal power was restored.
