CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va (WTVR) - The Chesterfield Fire Department has not yet determined what caused a fire that destroyed a Midlothian home early Saturday morning.

The fire, reported about 1 a.m., started inside the garage of a home in a neighborhood on Foggy Mill Road.

Firefighters said by the time they arrived, the home was engulfed in flames.

The family that lives in the home was inside at the time. The downstairs smoke detector in the two-story home woke up the family.

Everyone was able to make it out of the home safely.
