RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- A Virginia senator has received death threats after one of his Facebook posts made some people very upset.

It all started after Senator Stephen Martin (R-Chesterfield) called pregnant women "hosts" in a Facebook post after the Chesterfield lawmaker apparently received a Valentine’s card from the Virginia Pro-Choice Coalition.

The group wrote they were disappointed in how he votes on women's reproductive rights issues and that all women deserve access to a full range of health care, including abortions.

A few days later, Martin shared the letter on Facebook with his opinion.

"Once a child does exist in your womb, I’m not going to assume a right to kill it just because the child's host (some refer to them as mothers) doesn't want it," Martin wrote.

However, Martin later edited the post taking out the word "host" and replacing it with "bearer of the child" on Monday.

Martin said some newspapers and stations have taken his original post out of context – and that his use of parenthesis proves that he recognizes pregnant women as mothers.

He was using the same terminology that the pro-death advocates use sarcastically, can’t you see that? It makes the whole broohahah about it meaningless. Why don’t you go back to his page and see the rest of the convo and quote it or take screen shots for a follow-up report. Repeating the quote without the intent is old, inaccurate “news.”

Pro-death? Is that what you call people for abortion? How about anti-torture? No child without a chance needs to be born into this world if the mother knows they are going to suffer. If you think differently then you are either stupid or cruel. Whichever one, you should be ashamed of yourself.

No one has the right to take a human life or any life for that matter at any time. That is left up to a power greater than we are. And if you get really technical-women should not open theirs legs if they can’t handle what comes after and yes I am a mother and grandmother. I was taught to keep my pants on unless I was ready for the responsibility of the aftermath.

“No one has the right to take a human life or any life for that matter at any time.”

Unless you are George Zimmerman, apparently.

No one has the right to use your body if you do not want to allow them to use your body. Fetuses included.

Wow. As if a “fetus” is willfully imposing on a woman. If a woman opens her legs and risks getting pregnant then the “fetus” becomes her responsibility, not an imposition. Just because the child is in the womb doesn’t make abortion any less murder than if it occurred right after birth.

Let me guess–you’re one of those crazies who loves abortion but is adamant about “animal rights”.
