CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A car fire disrupted traffic for about 45 minutes Monday at the intersection of Jefferson Davis Highway and West Hundred Road in Chester.
The fire was “accidental in nature,” according to Keith Chambers, battalion chief of Chesterfield Fire and EMS.
He said the SUV-type vehicle was headed westbound on Route 10 in the left-turn lane when the fire started under the hood. Chambers said investigators do not know what started the fire.
The Chesterfield Fire and EMS crews worked on the fire for about an hour before clearing up traffic.
Officials funneled traffic through the parking lot of a nearby Starbucks, according to employees at the cafe. One lane had to be closed.
Chambers said there were no injuries as a result of the fire.
