Traffic was shutdown on Broad Street, 8th, 9th, Governor’s Street as well as Franklin and Grace.

Richmond police tweeted just after 5 p.m. that they were investigating an unattended backpack that was found in a walkway between two Virginia State Capitol buildings.

The closure created big traffic delays for commuters leaving the city.
