RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - A child and two adults were injured Tuesday night when someone opened fire in the parking lot outside Fine Food Market along the 4900 block of Government Road, in the Fulton area of the city's East End.

Police sources said all three were "random victims" in the 7 p.m. shooting. Witnesses said they heard about 12 shots fired.

"People shouldn't stand for that. What happened here is a horrible situation," Richmond Police Lt. Daniel Minton said. "Three people are shot. It's non-life threatening, but somebody knows what happened."

Richmond and Henrico police converged on the crime scene near the city-county line. Police used a K-9 to track a scent, but have not yet announced an arrest, nor specific suspect information.

"We do have information that two black males, in their late teens, were seen leaving the scene," Lt. Minton said.

One of the shooting victims was a seven-year-old child, according to police sources. The child was taken into surgery for a gunshot wound on his side, the sources said.

Multiple shootings throughout the decade darken the history of this location.

According to archive reports going back to 2003, a man walked into gunfire outside of the market, after purchasing lottery tickets. He died later at VCU Medical Center.

Then one of the first acts of violence to start off the year in 2006 happened outside the Fine Food Market. Police found a 20-year-old man lying outside the market in the afternoon. He had been shot twice, and survived the injuries.

Police asked anyone with information about Tuesday's shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
