HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Two women were charged after a weekend incident both inside and outside a West End restaurant.

Police were called to the Applebee’s along the 9600 block of West Broad Street Saturday about 4:25 p.m. to investigate a report of two intoxicated women.

Officers arrived to find Dawn Marie Ellyson, 41, of Henrico, attempting to drive out of the restaurant parking lot.

“Officers stopped the vehicle and found Ms. Ellyson to be driving impaired. Pills were found inside the vehicle,” Henrico Police spokeswoman Lt. Linda Toney confirmed.

Inside the vehicle, Ellyson’s friend Cheryl Walton and a two-year-old boy whose relationship to Ellyson was not made public in an effort to protect his identity.

During the course of their investigation, police officers learned Walton assaulted the child while they were all inside the restaurant.

Walton, 42, of Mechanicsville, is charged with strangulation, assault and being drunk in public.

The child suffered minor injuries.

Ellyson is charged with Child Endangerment, three DUIs five years, Drug Possession, Driving Outside of DUI Restrictions and having No Ignition Interlock.

I don’t suppose the restaurant will be held accountable for serving these people to the point of drunkenness.

Next up, let’s all sue the VABC for anything a drunk does on liquor?

I have mixed feelings about the notion of holding the establishment responsible for the actions of an individual.

Furthermore, if the women of such high standards were high on pills, then there’s a chance that the server brought them a standard amount of drinks, yet due to the effect of the abused legal medication, the alcohol had a greater effect not yet evident to the server.

Agreed! People(adults) need to be accountable for their own actions. Tired of adults always blaming others.

These women were drunk before they ever hit Applebee’s. They were seen at party city around 2 and they acted like they were on something then!

Smh..im just glad that someone had sense enough to call the authority before that child was hurt..as adults we all have to be held accountable for our own actions. Applebees has nothing to do with it..

They have to claim it. If you dance you gotta pay the fiddler.
