(CNN) -- A house fire is believed to have killed nine members of an 11-member Kentucky family early Thursday, including a number children, authorities said.

Six bodies have been recovered from the rural home in Greenville, and three others are presumed dead, Kentucky State Police Trooper Stu Recke said. Eleven people, including nine children ranging in age from 4 to 15 -- lived there, authorities said.

Two people -- the children's father, Chad J. Watson, 36, and an 11-year-old child -- were severely burned in the fire and taken to a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, said Muhlenberg County Coroner Tony Armour.

The fire happened at about 2 a.m. Thursday, CNN affiliate WTVF reported. Aerial video from WTVF showed the house's charred exterior and blackened debris scattered around it.

Recke said the fire's cause wasn't immediately clear, "but foul play is not suspected."
