RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)- Fire crews are spent Saturday afternoon fighting a house fire on the 4900 block of Riverside Drive.
Crews arrived on scene around 3 p.m. for a report of a house fire, according to Lt. Robbie Hagaman with the Richmond Fire Department. When they arrived crews reported heavy smoke coming from the two story structure home.
Richmond Fire confirmed that the one victim removed from the building has died. He was Clifton J. Troutman, age 70.
Neighbors say they were both surprised and saddened by the incident; among them was D'arcy O'Neill.
"It's definitely a lot more action than we usually see around here and then to find out that it had a sad ending was a terrible thing to hear," O'Neill said.
Another victim has been displaced by the fire. The Red Cross is assisting in the situation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
