Richmond man arrested for MCV car thefts

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — VCU Police said a man was arrested for a string of car thefts on and near the university’s MCV campus.

Henrico police arrested 38-year-old William Eric Chambers of  Richmond on Friday.

Chambers was arraigned on 12 felony arrest warrants including five counts of auto theft, four counts of grand larceny, felony assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of burglarious tools and felony eluding of police.

Police said additional charges are expected to be filed.

Chambers is being held in the Henrico County jail awaiting a preliminary hearing.
