CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.  (WCAV)–There were new developments Wednesday in the investigation of a “knockout game” style attack on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville.

Police were called to the Downtown Mall shortly before 2 a.m. on Dec. 20th to investigate a report of a unconscious man near the Blue Light Grill. A woman at the scene told officers she and another man were attacked by three African-American men.

Charlottesville Police have charged 25-year-old Malcolm James Stevenson and 23-year-old Richard Bernard Spears, both of Charlottesville, with assault.

Both Stevenson and Spears turned themselves in to a detective at the Charlottesville Police Department, where they were released on a permitted warrant.

Their first court appearance is scheduled for February 5th, 2014 at 9:00 a.m..

Outrageous biased “Justice”. Misdemeanor offense for obvious “Knockout Game Hate Crime”??? Must be BLIND.

Interesting how the seriousness of the crime changes with the skin color. If these were white perpertrators knocking out black women, they would be put into the same category as KKK and charged with hate crimes. But because they are blacks, these were just misdeminor charges.

This is a clear case of racism, masquerading as civil rights justice.
