HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – The ramp from I-295 south to I-64 east (exit 28A) is closed due to an incident involving a tractor trailer, according to VDOT.

“At approximately 12:37 p.m. this afternoon, state police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer,” Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Thomas Molnar wrote in an email. “The tractor-trailer ran off the right side of the roadway striking the guardrail and overturning down the embankment.”

The driver suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

“The trailer was loaded with approximately 40,000 pounds of dry chem, which is used in fire extinguishers,” Molnar said.

Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route to reach I-64 east.
