SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — Officials confirmed the lead actor of “The Fast and the Furious” movie series was killed Saturday afternoon in a fiery single-car accident.
Representatives for Paul Walker confirmed the news of his death on the actor’s Twitter and Facebook accounts.
Walker, 40, and another passenger were killed in the accident.
Sources said that Walker was driving a Porsche when he suddenly lost control and crashed into light police and a tree. The car proceeded to burst into flames.
KTLA reportsthe Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said deputies found the vehicle engulfed in flames around 3:30 p.m. in the 28300 block of Rye Canyon loop.
As of now, it is unclear as to what caused the accident.
“He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news,” a representative wrote on the actor’s Facebook page.
Walker was in town to attend a car show for relief for the Philippines typhoon victims.
