DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va (WTVR) -- Dinwiddie County school administrators are urging parents to talk to their children about what they post online.

This after a 16-year-old Dinwiddie High School student was suspended for 10 days after students alerted school administrators about an alleged threatening post.

"The threat was one that was general, but it had enough specifics in it for the high school administration to say this warrants an investigation," Dinwiddie County Schools' Sharon Yates said.

School administrators brought the teen to the office and called in a school resource officer. After a joint investigation, the student was suspended.

Sheriff's investigators and the commonwealth's attorney will discuss the possibility of a felony charge.

Yates said parents need to be aware of what their children post on social media because those postings can lead to severe consequences at school.
