RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — Richmond police are investigating after shots were fired and a car was stolen in the city’s East End Sunday night.

Richmond police said a 48-year-old man was approached by two black males in the 1500 block of Oakwood Ave. around 8:50 p.m.

One of the suspects pulled out a handgun and a short struggle ensued, but the victim managed to run away. He told police he heard two gunshots ring out as he escaped.

Police said the suspects then stole the victim’s Honda Accord, which was parked nearby.

Around 15 minutes later, Richmond police spotted the vehicle and a short pursuit ensued before the car stuck a curb and sign post in the 5200 block of Campbell Ave.

Police said one of the suspects was apprehended, but that the other suspect ran off on foot.

No one was injured. The car suffered minor damage.

Police are still investigating and searching for the other suspect.
