CULPEPER, Va. (WTVR) – A Culpeper deputy was hit by a car during a traffic stop Friday evening.
Officials report Deputy Joshua Haught stopped a car at the intersection of James Madison Highway and Dirt Road just before 8 p.m. for an equipment violation.
Haught returned to his patrol car after talking with the driver, but he was hit before he entered the car, striking his life leg and mirror.
According to authorities, Haught chased after the Oldmosbile for about a mile before stopping the car on Madison Road.
The driver, 32-year-old Dawn Offer, was charged with failure to move over for law enforcement. She was released on a summons.
The passenger, 33-year-old William Washington, was found to be wanted in Spotsylvania for not paying for child support. He was arrested and then released on a $3,000 secured bond.
