McDonald's inside job robbery

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -- Police say a fast food worker was involved in an armed robbery plot at a Short Pump McDonald's early Thursday morning.

Officers were called to the McDonald's in the 11200 block of W. Broad Street for a reported robbery just before 4 a.m.

That's where a McDonald's employee, 38-year-old Jason Phillip Martin, told officers that two masked suspects, who were armed with handguns, came up to him in the parking lot and demanded money.

Police said the suspects took cash from inside the restaurant before they ran off.

Officers then spotted two suspects walking east on Broad Street. When officers approached, the pair ran off.

But police nabbed 20-year-old Travis Jamar Taliaferro, of 1600 Cartersville Road in Goochland, and 29-year-old Latoya Nicole, of the 5200 block of St. Paul's Church Road in Goochland, near the I-64 interchange. Officers recovered the cash and weapons from the accused robbers.

Police said their investigation revealed that the employee, Jason Phillip Martin, of the 7900 block of Wynbrook Lane in Mechanicsville, was involved in the robbery.

The trio were charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit grand larceny, one count of false police report, and one count of grand larceny.
