Police ID man, woman killed in Courthouse Rd. crash

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – The driver of a Honda CRV that crashed on Courthouse Rd. earlier this month has died. Mary M. Patterson, 51, of Eagles Crest Lane, had been at VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. She died on Saturday, according to Chesterfield police.

Earlier police announced Matthew A. Mericle, 39, of New Forest Trail, also died in the crash. He was a passenger in the Honda CRV. Two other people were hurt.

“A Honda CRV traveling south on Courthouse Road lost control and crossed into the northbound lanes striking a Chevrolet Suburban,” Chesterfield Police Lt. Jim Profita wrote about the Nov. 9 crash.

The crash, which happened about 9:45 p.m. closed lanes along the 5100 block of Courthouse Rd. for several hours.

Police continue to investigate what caused of the crash.
