Glen Allen man killed in crash that closed I-95

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - One person was killed in an overnight accident on Interstate 95. A tractor-trailer and a car were involved in the accident about 2:22 a.m. near mile marker 80. The driver of the car was killed, according to state police.

"The crash occurred after the driver of a Subaru lost control of the vehicle and struck a 2000 Freightliner tractor-trailer.  The adult male driver of the Subaru, who was wearing his safety belt, died at the scene," Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Thomas Molnar wrote in an email. "The driver of the tractor-trailer, who was also wearing his safety belt, was not injured in the crash."

Police identified the driver of the Subaru as 30-year-old Steve Rosales-Mejia of Glen Allen.

All lanes of Interstate 95 were closed for a few hours while police investigated the crash. All lanes reopened by 5 a.m.

Police have not yet released the identity of the crash victim.
