Southampton County peanut warehouse goes up flames

SOUTHHAMPTON COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) — Dozens of firefighters battled a blaze at a large peanut warehouse in Southampton County Wednesday afternoon.

The Southampton County Sheriff’s Office reports that crews were called out just before 12:10 p.m. to t 22541 Meherrin Road in Courtland.

Fourteen fire companies responded to the blaze reportedly at the location of the Hancock Peanut Company.

No one was injured in the blaze.

Officials said they do not know what sparked the blaze and that it could be several days before they determine a cause.
