RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – A weekend VDOT work zone extended into Monday morning and caused delays on Interstate 95 near Lombardy Street in Richmond.
The lanes were closed to allow concrete from weekend bridge work to cure.
VDOT UPDATE: The left lane of I-95 South will be closed for the next 90 minutes from mm 78-76 while crews improve the lane barrier. The segmented barriers were slightly separated and will be connected for drivers’ safety.
VDOT UPDATE: All northbound lanes are back open. There is a 2.5 mile backup. Southbound is still to one travel lane.
Crews are moving the barrier wall and all southbound lanes are expected to open by 10 a.m.
VDOT UPDATE: Southbound backups: 5 miles; Northbound backups: 4 miles
VDOT UPDATE: Traffic will remain in one lane in both directions. This is a change from what was originally stated that two lanes would open southbound.
VDOT UPDATE: Still one travel lane in both directions. Southbound
backups 3 miles, northbound backups 2 miles. Traffic is also backing up on I-64
west at the Shockoe Valley Bridge.
