SHORT PUMP, Va. (WTVR) – Residents at a Short Pump apartment complex are worried after a resident came face to face with an armed robber Friday night.

The victim told police that while he getting out of his car at the Reflections of West Creek apartment complex, a man approached him and pulled out a gun.

The victim said the robber ordered him back into his car and told him to drive to a nearby ATM and use his debit card to withdraw an undetermined amount of cash.

Police said the suspect followed the victim during the process and then told him to go back to the apartment complex. When the pair were back, police said the robber took off.

Allan Scilino, who lives at the apartment complex, said he spoke with the victim minutes after the ordeal.

"He was shaken up, but I think he was doing very good [sic] for what happened,” Scilino said.

The robbery has raised security concerns for people living at the apartment complex.

"I hope that we install a lot of surveillance cameras or something,” resident Puspendra Kumar said.

"It never hurts to have more security such as cameras,”

Scilino said he thinks cameras would help, along with security patrolling the area.

Management was not available to comment, but staff members told CBS 6 News they do have surveillance cameras on the property.  However, they did not provide exact locations because of security concerns.

While that may be the case, the tenants at that apartment said they won't let their guard down.

"Everything changes,” Scilino said. “And so you make sure that when you go out, you look around.”

Police described the suspect as a dark-skinned black male between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall wearing a grey shirt and dark bandana.
