RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Police are investigating an early-morning robbery in Richmond Sunday. Officers said a driver was robbed at the intersection of Hull St. and Pilkington St. around 4:15 a.m. while stopped at a red light.

Police said the victim was in his vehicle waiting at the light when two men robbed him. The suspects, who police described as black men in their 20's,  took his cellphone and wallet. Police said the victim did not know the suspects.

While most neighbors said they have never had an issue in the area, Drew Papa, who owns Papa’s Pizza, said he was not surprised.

"Even though it's not one of the really bad areas, it's still an area where that could go down,” Papas said. “There’s not much going on in that area [but] a lot of closed down businesses and stuff."

Jeff Murphy, a delivery driver for Papa's Pizza, called the crime frightening.  Especially since he spends so much time in his car shuttling pies around town.

While Murphy said this type of crime could happen anywhere, he added the incident served as a reminder to keep your car doors locked.

"It’s not something you think about every time you get in your car, to lock your doors," said Murphy. "But it's definitely something everyone should think about doing....”
