HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - A Henrico man is facing first-degree murder charges after a woman's body was found in the woods near a Henrico County apartment complex.
Thursday night police identified the suspect that was found in the woods earlier in the day, near Gaskins Rd. and Patterson Ave. in Henrico's West End.
Samantha O’Quin, a 28-year-old white female of the 10000 block of Castile Court, was found murdered in a wooded area near the Kings Crossing Apartments early Thursday.
Police said that the nature of her injuries are not being released at this time pending completion of an autopsy and further investigation.
The victim’s one-year-old daughter was found unharmed at her residence. Detectives are working to determine how long the child may have been left alone. The child was released to family members of the victim.
Henrico Police said they were initially called to the scene to investigate a suspicious situation. Police said that Blake H. Bryant, age 31, was observed near the scene and questioned by detectives.
Their investigation led to first-degree murder charges against Bryant. Police said the incident is domestic in nature and that Bryant is the boyfriend of the victim. His listed residence was the same as the victim's. Details of what led to the homicide are not being released at this time.
Bryant was denied bail Friday morning and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 1.
