CHESTER, Va. (WTVR) -Amazon announced it planned to hire 500 people to work at its fulfillment center in Chester. Over the summer, the online retailer announced it planned to hire 7,000 workers nationwide.
Amazon said the workers hired at the Chester site would “pick, pack and ship” customers’ online orders. Amazon did not give specific pay scales for the positions, but said the jobs pay 30 percent more than jobs in traditional retail stores.
Amazon’s initial hiring announcement in July surprised some current and former employees who questioned the company’s practices. Click here to read their story.
