LOUISA COUNTY, Va (WTVR) — State Police are still investigating a plane crash that happened at the Louisa County Airport Saturday morning.

Troopers responded to the scene around 11:00 a.m. after the pilot of a 1929 Fleet fixed wing single-engine plane crashed while trying to land.

The brakes malfunctioned and the plane ran off the runway to the left striking an embankment before overturning and coming to rest onto the cockpit, police said.

The pilot, 53 year-old Bryon Stewart of Warrenton, Va., and a 17-year-old female passenger from Brandy Station, Va. were not injured.

The FAA was notified and was on-scene at the crash Saturday morning.
