CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -- A car became a delivery room thanks to the help of a Virginia dispatcher who talked a dad through delivering his wife’s baby along Route 460 Thursday.

Dispatcher Nikki Lee answered the call from a father, who was rushing to the hospital down Route 460 in Campbell County, when his wife realized their baby wanted out, according to WSET.

Lee said once the father told her that he could see the child’s head, she decided he needed to pull over -- and she talked him through the birth.

A healthy baby girl with big brown eyes, weighing in at 7 pounds and 14 ounces was safely delivered in the front seat of the family’s Pontiac.

This was the first time Lee, in more than a decade of dispatching, ever had to birth a baby over the phone. And the proud parents said she did a remarkable job.

"You would've thought she was there,” said Ashiqah Mumin, who gave birth to her third child along Route 460. “She just literally walked him through every single step, where to put his hand, how to put his hand. And I would just say thank you so much, and I would tell her boss to give her a great big raise."

Mumin also believes Lee was sent to the family by “the grace of God, because she was so helpful and kind."
