HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Police have opened an investigation into an alleged incident that involves Delegate Joe Morrissey (D - Henrico) and a 17-year-old girl, Henrico Commonwealth's Attorney Shannon Taylor confirmed to CBS 6.

While Taylor would not confirm the nature of the investigation, Henrico Police sources told CBS 6 it stemmed from a situation that took place last Friday night.

When CBS 6's Jon Burkett asked Morrissey about the incident, he said he knew nothing about any investigation.

"Didn't know anything about it," he said Wednesday as he departed the General Assembly building. "Wish I could help you."

Burkett broke the news about the investigation earlier on Wednesday.

The sources said officers went to Morrissey's Glen Allen home at the request of the girl's father. The officers were told to tell Morrissey that the 17-year-old's father wanted her to come home.

Morrissey, who will turn 56 next month, told the officers the teen was there and said he would get her, but asked that the officers step outside the house, the sources said.

When the teen came outside, she told police her mother knew she had been at the home and that there were two older women there as well, the sources indicated. The older women were not there when police arrived, the sources continued.

The girl's father told Burkett Wednesday he was attending a funeral and would comment when he returned to town.
