HAMPTON, Va. (WTVR) - A Hampton woman will spend two months in jail and pay tens of thousands in restitution for falsely claiming she was sexually abused.
Johnathon Montgomery, 27, spent four years in prison until Elizabeth Coast admitted she had made up the story.
Coast, now 23, cried repeatedly during sentencing. Her lawyer tried to portray her as a naive, then 17-year-old who feared her parents.
The prosecution asked for ten years prison, but the judge sentenced Coast to five years with all but two months suspended.
In addition, Coast can serve her 60 days on consecutive weekends.
“I never forgot, I never forgot about Jonathan,” Coast said. “It wrecked my life.”
