CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WTVR) - Sean McDonnell, son of Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, was found guilty Monday of public intoxication. The 21-year-old was ordered to pay a $25 fine and $81 in court costs.

A Charlottesville Police officer arrested McDonnell, a University of Virginia student, last month after spotting him acting drunk near UVa. grounds.

The charge was a misdemeanor and McDonnell faced a maximum fine of $250.

“This is a personal matter and is being addressed by the family,” Tucker Martin, spokesperson for Governor McDonnell, said days following the arrest.
