CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WTVR) -- A former University of Virginia dining hall worker could face life in prison for attempting to abduct and assault a 19-year-old near campus.

Matthew Rene Beaulieu, 27, pleaded guilty in May to abduction with intent to defile.

Court records state Beaulieu wanted to find a woman to “feel pain like he feels it,” after he suffered a breakup.

Beaulieu spotted a woman walking near campus and tried to force her into the back of his vehicle.

However, the victim was able to escape after he dropped a pair of handcuffs.
