JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -- Police are investigating the death of a 42-year-old woman found inside her home Saturday night.

Around 6:40 p.m, officers responded to a home in the 100 block of Teal Way in the Season's Trace subdivision in reference to the discovery of a dead female inside of a residence.

Police say the discovery was made by the next door neighbor who had gone to check on the victim at the request of an out-of-state relative who had not heard from them.

Police found evidence of an apparent struggle and are investigating the death as a homicide.

The victim's body was transported to the Medical Examiner's Office in Richmond to confirm the identification of the deceased and determine the cause of death.

The deceased is believed to be the homeowner who lived at the home with her husband.
