Groups urge Cuccinelli to take part in debate with McAuliffe
Ken Cuccinelli and Terry McAuliffe
RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — AARP Virginia and the League of Women Voters are calling on Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli to debate Terry McAuliffe, the Democratic candidate, in “The People’s Debate.”
After already missing a July 1 deadline, organizers said Cuccinelli did not respond to a certified letter sent to his campaign, which gave the Republican until last Friday to decide if he will take part.
McAuliffe has already accepted the invitation.
WTVR and Public Television station WCVE are media sponsors of “The People’s Debate,” which is slated to be broadcast across the Commonwealth on Oct. 14.
