RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Some homes along the 2400 block of Alexander Avenue in South Richmond were evacuated due to a gas leak, Richmond Fire Lt. Robbie Hagaman confirmed. Crews nicked the gas line while doing work in the area.

Alexander Avenue is located just north of the Bells Road/Jeff Davis Highway intersection.

CBS 6 photojournalist Andy Pederson said fire crews were clearing the scene when he arrived.
