HENRICO, Va. (WTVR)—A program that helps to feed children in need during the summer months, is now running low on what's needed most--- food.
The Commonwealth Catholic Charities feeds hungry children in the summer.
They said that with school out, the demand is up and their donations are not meeting the increase in demand.
that’s because students from low-income families who are guaranteed breakfast and lunch at school no longer get that.
Graham Sellors who works at the pantry said it's tough because he understands what it’s like to go without food. He also said they are in need of everything, but basic essentials are the most important.
The pantry could use food donations that have an extensive shelf life, like peanut butter and canned food items.
