HOPEWELL, Va. (WTVR) -- Hopewell police have arrested a man wanted in connection with the beating death of a Petersburg man over the weekend.

Police charged Joseph M. Claiborne for one count of murder in the second degree following a deadly fight that occurred early Sunday morning at the 1600 block of Old Iron Road.

Police said officers responded to a fight in progress around 1 a.m. When they arrived, they found a man lying on the ground.

Police said 29-year-old Burton W. Revish of Petersburg was treated on the scene and rushed to VCU Medical Center where he died from his injuries.

Police said they believe there more people were involved in the beating based on interviews from witnesses.

Authorities took Claiborne into custody without incident Sunday evening and he is being held at the Riverside Regional Jail.
