RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The VCU Siegel Center was evacuated just before noon Monday after a fire alarm went off in the building.

Meadowbrook High School was conducting its graduation ceremony at the time. The alarm sounded near the end of the ceremony, so the event was not disrupted.

The alarm sounded while workers were changing filters out of a malfunctioning air handler system, VCU spokesman Mike Porter said. He added the rest of the day’s ceremonies should begin as scheduled.
