Humpback whales spotted in Nags Head

NAGS HEAD, N.C. (WTVR) – If you have never seen a humpback whale in person now may be the time to take a trip to Nags Head.

There have been a number of up-close sightings in the area, where whales feeding on fish are appearing in the water just feet from people.

These photos were snapped off the Jennette’s Pier.

Whales are often seen off the coast in winter and spring months as they pass through on their migratory path, but it is rare to see them late in the season.
