WEATHER ALERT: Dense fog Thursday morning

8:39 a.m. UPDATE: The Dense Fog Advisory was allowed to expire early for nearly all of central Virginia, including Richmond. Only northern Virginia remains in the advisory until 10 a.m. Visibilities are rapidly improving.

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – A Dense Fog Advisory will remain in effect for central Virginia until 10 a.m. Thursday. After days of heavy downpours soaked the ground, skies cleared aloft overnight, and winds became calm, causing widespread dense fog to form overnight.919608_616436501719545_1494195667_o

Visibilities west of I-95 are to a quarter-mile or less. Locations along and east of I-95 are also experiencing dense fog, with visibilities of at least a mile or worse.
