BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Police in Birmingham, Alabama are looking for a killer who shot a mother holding her 10-day-old baby. Sherri Williams was standing in the doorway of her apartment when she was shot Monday afternoon, police said.

“There appeared to be an altercation across the street somewhere between her apartment and the store shots were fired and she was struck by one of the rounds,” Birmingham Police Sgt. Johnny Williams said. “It’s even more sad because she was holding her infant in her arms, when she was shot. Fortunately, the baby was not injured.”

Police have not yet released information about a suspect in this case.
