CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A body pulled from the Appomattox River Wednesday was identified as 19-year-old Jauwan M. Holmes, according to Chesterfield Police.

Holmes and Marvell Edmondson were last seen walking into the Appomattox River last weekend as part of a hazing ritual.

Edmondson’s body was recovered earlier in the week.

Seven Virginia State University students were taking part in what police and survivors called a hazing ritual to join an organization not recognized by the university.

VSU students will gather at Daniels Gym at noon Friday for a service to remember the two young men.
