(CNN) — A bus collided with fuel tanker in southern Afghanistan Friday killing at least 35 people and injuring 10, local officials said.

The incident occurred as the bus was traveling between Kandahar and Helmand provinces, governor spokesmen for both provinces said.

Children were among the victims, said a Kandahar provincial governor spokesman.
