RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Firefighters discovered a body inside a Richmond home early Tuesday morning. The fire, at 3936 East Broad Rock Road, was first reported to the Richmond Fire Department at 5:40 a.m.
Investigators arrived on scene in five minutes and marked the fire under control just before 6 a.m.
Inside the home, firefighter discovered a body. Though they have not yet been able to identify the remains, Richmond Fire Marshal David Creasy said it appeared the body is that of a man.
Neighbors said the home had been vacant for more than a year.
The investigation into what started the fire and how the person in the home died remains on going.
