FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) — Police in northern Virginia are searching for a mother who is believed to have absconded with her 5-year-old son.
Reston police detectives are asking for the public’s help finding Rebecca Serafin and her son, Cameron.
Detectives think the child’s mother has changed her appearance and run off with the boy after he was not returned to his father on Sunday, April 7.
Police released photos Thursday morning that show the pair’s altered appearances.
Official, who are worried about the boy’s welfare, said the mother and son may now be using the last name Love.
Police have recovered Serafin’s car, and other items, which they said make them believe the woman is trying to remain undetected.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 32-year-old and she is charged with custodial interference; a misdemeanor.
Serafin is approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs between 120 and 130 pounds. The child is 3 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 40 pounds.
