Dental mix-up leaves autistic man toothless

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTVR) – There was a bizarre mix-up in Indianapolis after an autistic  man walked into the dentist with a toothache -- and left without any teeth.

Christopher Crist said he intended to have just three teeth pulled but ended up toothless after getting up from the dentist's chair.

Crist said the issues began after they gave him some pills to help with the pain associated with pulling the three teeth, but that there was obviously some sort of communications mix-up.

Crist has autism, and his family coached him on what instructions to give the dentist: pull the three problem teeth and no more.

Christ's family said they have been trying to get his patient file from the dentist's office for three days and are now planning to file a complaint with the state.
