AFGHANISTAN (WTVR) – Officials said a Virginia Beach man is being illegally held in Afghanistan over a contact dispute.

Three congressmen said David Gordon was arrested Wednesday without any charges against him.

Gordon was then injured in a beating and not given medical care until 24 hours later.

The congressmen said Gordon's detention stems from a contract dispute and that Afghan authorities are asking for $2.4 million for his release.

Officials sent a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry to ask him to intervene.

Gordon is a father of two with another on the way.
