A beloved fishing village in Virginia has been recognized as one of the top islands in America.
Chincoteague Island, launched into the national consciousness with the 1947 publication of Misty of Chincoteague, is considered Virginia’s only tourist island.
It’s located on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, and is the gateway to Assateague Island, home of the famous wild ponies.
