Police identify driver killed in I-295 crash

UPDATE: Virginia State Police identified the man killed in a Thursday morning accident as Wayne L. Johnson Jr., 33, 3000 block of Pheasant Chase Drive. Police said alcohol is considered a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.

HENRICO COUNTY, Va (WTVR) - One person was killed in an early-morning crash on Interstate 295 in eastern Henrico. Previously the right and center lanes were closed near mile marker 22 (north of the Varina/Route 5 exit) as state police investigated. All lanes are now open.

Details of the crash and the identity of the deceased individual are pending next of kin notification.

Interstate 64 or Pocahontas Parkway can be used as alternate routes.

Police asked drivers to respect the move over law and put one travel lane between your car and emergency vehicles.
