FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WTVR) – Police are looking for a man they consider a person of interest in a weekend double homicide. Police called John Wesley Jeffries, 60, armed and dangerous.
Police want to question Jeffries about the Sunday slaying of a couple in their home near The Plains. Jeffries is a registered sex offender, convicted of rape and abduction in 1986.
WUSA9 reported the victims are 80-year-old Nelson Slack and 74-year-old Ethel Slack. The station reported Jeffries may have known the couple.
Police found the victims’ vehicle late Sunday afternoon along the 1700 block of Lafayette Boulevard in Fredericksburg.
Police said officers have been looking for Jeffries for several days. He was previously wanted in Spotsylvania on charges of malicious wounding and felony strangulation.
Police urge anyone who sees Jeffries to call 911.
